Founded in 1991, in Belhaven, N.C., The Great Belhaven Bait & Seafood Co. Inc. is a wholesale distributor of frozen commercial and sport fishing baits.  The company distributes baits to over 250 customers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  Customers include marinas, bait and tackle shops, commercial fish packers, docks, chain stores and various other retail outlets.

A little history:

In the summer of 1989, Mac and Amy Pigott began discussing the potential of a wholesale bait business of their own.

A business plan was developed; financing secured and in February of 1991 The Great Belhaven Bait and Seafood Company was born.

Along with their son Leigh, the Pigott's roots are in Eastern NC.  Amy is a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville and has been a special education teacher in Belhaven for 19 years.

Mac has a degree in Food Science from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.  Born and raised in Wilmington, NC, Mac was "hands on" operating Director of the Borden Crab Processing Facility in Belhaven for nine years prior to 1991.  Their son Leigh was born in 1989.

Their commitment to the community and their successful business is very well documented.  Expanding both of these personal commitments is an urgent priority in the lives of the Pigotts.
